Silverton Marine, www.silverton.com, is the latest company to incorporate the Volvo IPS drives into a new design. The company's new Ovation yacht series uses triple IPS drives. One of the many benefits of the IPS drives is that they allow the engineers to move the engines farther aft since there is no need for long shaft runs. On the Ovation 52, 30-inches of usable space is created. Belowdecks, there are three staterooms, including a forward V.I.P.

One of the highlights on the fall boat show circuit has been the sweet Ocean Yachts 37 Billfish. While other builders are coming out with larger and larger craft, Ocean identified the market demand for a 37 footer designed solely to raise fish. The styling and single purpose mission will remind boaters of similar boats of the 1960s. While the sleek 37 Billfish sports a bridge, it incorporates standard features that distinguish it from other Ocean models. The most noticable is the absence of an after saloon bulkhead. Just as noticable is the prescence of a full windshield.

Regulator, known for building quality center consoles, has introduced a 30 Express. It's the company's first in an expanding line of models that the North Carolina builder hopes will appeal to the serious angler who also wants a little more creature comfort.

Allied Richard Bertram Marine Group (ARBMG) has dropped anchor on a new location at the Ocean Reef Club, Key Largo, Florida, announced President George Jousma. The new location is not far from the previous location at the Club's Fishing Village. A Ft. Lauderdale-based marine company, ARBMG is one of the largest privately owned yacht sales and service organizations in the United States. The comoany is the number one dealer for Azimut, Tiara, and Bertram Yachts and is also now representing Maritimo. The Ocean Reef office will be headed up Ken Reda.

Boston Whaler, which is celebrating its 50th Anniversary recently introduced the 230 Dauntless. This latest in the Dauntless series follows the same styling as the 200 Dauntless introduced last year. Designed for multi-purpose versatility, the 230 offers a full-width aft casting deck that converts to a wide bench seat. You can also stow wakeboards as well as fishing rods in this area. The bow seating provides a wide and expansive foredeck when backrests are not in use. The area converts to wide and comfortable lounges.

The fall boat show season is just getting underway in North America from Seattle to Newport. Builders historically showcase new model year product at these shows, and this year, there were a varity of new boats that caught the attention of our editors. Here are some highlights from the Newport, Rhode Island show and the Norwalk, Connecticut shows. We're also heading down to Annapolis and Ft. Lauderdale in October and will keep you posted.

Regal Marine recently christened its largest launch to date, the new 5260 Commodore. The yacht is powered by Volvo Penta 600 IPS drives for added performanc and effeciency. Regal will build the new 52 on a semi-custom basis that allows owners to choose from a variety of interior and deck configurations, as well as personalize their boat's fabrics, countertops, cabinetry and flooring materials at the Yacht Decor Center scheduled to be constructed within a new plant. J.D. Power ranks Grady White #1 for coastal fishing boats between 17 and 28 feet in length for the sixth year in a row. According to J.D. Power, Grady-White owners reported the least number of problems per boat. www.gradywhite.com.
