Ocean Yachts Launches 37 Billfish
October 30, 2007 - 7:32pm — George Sass Jr.
One of the highlights on the fall boat show circuit has been the sweet Ocean Yachts 37 Billfish. While other builders are coming out with larger and larger craft, Ocean identified the market demand for a 37 footer designed solely to raise fish. The styling and single purpose mission will remind boaters of similar boats of the 1960s. While the sleek 37 Billfish sports a bridge, it incorporates standard features that distinguish it from other Ocean models. The most noticable is the absence of an after saloon bulkhead. Just as noticable is the prescence of a full windshield. The 37 Billfish is designed to have the "quick-to-the-rod" dynamic of an express boat for fishing, but still maintains the visibility and comfort of a flybridge boat while running. There are two fully-equipped helm stations, although the lower station is designed primarily to run while trolling. Power is provided by twin 480 hp Yanmar diesels and push the 37 Billfish to a top speed of 35 knots and a cruising speed of around 31 knots. Thanks to propeller pockets, draft is reduced to a measly 2 feet, 6 inches, rivaling most center console designs! The initial base price of the 37 with the 480 hp Yanmars is $449,000 for 2008 model year completions through January 31, 2008. For more information log onto to www.37billfish.com. |
